The Olympics are heating up this summer and we just can’t get enough! Catch the Olympic fever by displaying your best gold-medal fashion. Whether you’re wearing gold, silver, or bronze, you can always look like a winner by rocking metallics!

Mixing Up Metallics

This trend may seem difficult to wear, but it’s actually an easy way to transition your outfits from day to night! Channel the Olympic spirit by playing with different shades of metallic- rock it with leather for an edgier look, neutral colors to bring out the sophisticated fashionista, or neon if you’re feeling playful.

If you want, you can also use metallic accessories add some glamour to your look- they match with any color! Accessories make a huge difference and are one of the easiest ways to spice up your outfits without having to change your wardrobe. We love how these gold cuffs add some edge to a simple outfit! Try statement pieces like the All the Rage Fabric Beaded Necklace or the ZAD Silver Hammered Overlap Cuff for winning style.

You can even rock the trend using bags! We love the BCBGeneration Silver Glitzy Foldover Clutch and the R&EM Sequin Tote - wear them during the day with any casual outfit or grab it for a girls’ night out.

Statement jewelry instantly spices up any outfit- throw a statement necklace over a crisp white blouse or add some earrings for an extra pop of color! We’re totally in love with the All the Rage Beaded Statement Necklace and Kenneth Cole Stone Drop with Chain Earrings- they look gorgeous with any style!

Color Block and Bold Color

Color blocking and bold color are fun ways to play with brights! Try color blocking with a bold top and a bright skirt in different colors, or add a bold necklace to add some color to your outfit. The Nila Anthony Doctor Bag and the Urban Expressions Licorice Clutch are great ways to incorporate these trends into your wardrobe!

Shielding the Summer Sun

Who says you can’t look stylish while protecting yourself from the sun? We think the sun is a great excuse to wear sophisticated floppy hats and experiment with different styles of sunglasses. Change up your look by putting on some Betsey Johnson Large Square Opaque Sunglasses or an August Accessories Color Edge Floppy hat and you’re ready to head to the beach!

What are some of your favorite summer trends?

You’ve probably already noticed we’re obsessed with tribal patterns for summer. Well, we’ve decided to update our nails with a chevron pattern for the weekend, using inspiration from the Street Level Color Block Clutch.

It’s totally easy to do it yourself! All you need is blue masking tape, two nail polishes, scissors, and a top coat.

Chevron Nails Step by Step:

1. Find a bright coral polish (or any bold-colored polish) and apply over the base coat. Let this dry completely.

2. Cut off two corners on top and bottom to make chevron strips.

3. Tape the chevron strips to your nails where you’d like to paint the pattern. Make sure the pattern covers your entire nail to create a clean pattern.

4. Choose another bold-colored nail polish (we used magenta) and paint only the exposed parts to create a cool chevron pattern. You can even do a reverse pattern by painting the inner part of the nail instead (like we did with the pinky!)

Hooray - you’re finished! It’s time to rock two trends at once: color block and chevron print!

If you’re like us, you probably have tons of LBB jewelry and not much space to display it. Our solution: the super-easy DIY jewelry organizer! It’s the perfect way to organize your necklaces, bracelets and rings for easy access when you’re getting ready in a hurry.

What you’ll need:

  • Towel bar or rack. We used one that hangs over the door to avoid drilling holes into the wall.
  • S-shaped shower curtain hooks that match your décor and personality. We picked up ours at Bed Bath and Beyond.
  • Your favorite jewelry from Little Black Bag!

What to do:

  • First, decide what type of towel rack you want. You can use one you already have, or pick one up from any home goods store near you (We found ours at Target).
  • Next, figure out where you want to hang your jewelry. We suggest the interior of your closet door, a bedroom or bathroom wall, or anywhere you usually like to get ready to look fabulous!
  • Now, just follow the instructions included with the towel bar and you’re ready to move on to the fun part!
  • Hang your shower curtain hooks on the bars and dangle your jewelry from the hooks. Try playing around with different looks until your jewelry looks just the way you like it.

And there you have it! A simple, eye-catching way to organize your jewelry collection without breaking the bank.

In case you’re looking for the quick and easy fix, you can always try the Umbra Gateway Jewelry Stand from LBB!

Nila Anthony Studded Bucket Bag from Little Black Bag
Quick how-to!
You’ll need: base/top coat, tape (if you’d like), 2 polishes
1. Apply your base coat. Let this dry completely.
2. Apply your base color (we’re using Michael Marcus’ Red Hot Momma Nail Polish and a gold polish), and paint your ring finger a different color for that alternating effect. Let everything dry!
3. Here’s where it can get a little tricky-you can either freehand this part, or use tape. If you want to use tape, just place a piece diagonally on your nail and paint only the exposed parts (be careful to make sure the tape completely on your nail, otherwise the line won’t be clean)! Repeat on the other side to create the design on the thumb and ring finger.
4. Take your gold polish, and make lines with the brush (if you have smaller brushes on hand, they’d come in handy right now, but we freehanded it since we didn’t!).
5. Let everything dry, and finish off with a top coat! Now you’re ready to rock some awesome gold-accented nails!
